Question by Katsuya: How do I write the best letter to my ex-girlfriend?
I had a nasty breakup with my ex-girlfriend around 3 months ago over a lot of small issues piled up. We really loved eachother. It’s a shame, but I still love her. She wanted to be friends too, but a lot of other people and influences got in the way of us having a normal post-breakup. She misunderstands me now and I want to write a letter to let her know my true feelings so that she can see past the misunderstanding. I am not hoping or aiming to get back together with her. This letter will be a declaration, apology, a thank you, and open hand reaching out for a time to sit down together and talk in person, to become friends hopefully.

She was my first love.

-How long MAX can a letter be? Is there such thing as too long even if all the paragraphs are sincere and engaging?
-5 or 6 A4-handwritten pages in the letter. Is that OK? I do know there’s a danger of losing the essence of your message if it’s too long. But there are many points I need to express and clear up. I will try to keep each paragraph as engaging as possible.
-LASTLY— any tips or advice on what I should strongly avoid in this nature of letter?

I want so badly to talk to her but I can’t because she won’t give the chance when i ask her. … this is the reason why I resort to writing a handwritten letter, so she can read my points over and have time to think. If others read it and laugh, so be it. But she’s that important to me.

I am actually in a similar situation as you. I just broke up with my ex almost 2 months ago, the difference being I regret it and want to get back together. I have just written an apology letter and am not sure if it will work or not… it can’t hurt, but most things just take time.

Anyway, make it as short and as sincere as possible. I think the idea of the apology letter is to get the foot in the door to open up a conversation, so honestly I wouldn’t make it longer than one page if possible, and break it up into easy to read paragraphs so she will be sure to read everything.

What to avoid… don’t beg or plea in the letter. Don’t rehash anything that may still bring up bad feelings. Only admit your own mistakes and don’t make excuses for why you made them.

Just be honest, sincere and confident and you can’t really go wrong. Sometimes it will just take more time though no matter what you say, so hang in there!

Question by SieOlson: Why do men think it is ok to write a breakup letter through facebook?
So here is the situation. My boyfriend and I met in January of 2009 and got engaged in May of the same year. Then on June 11 of this year, he send me a facebook message saying that we have gone separate ways and aren’t meant to be together. I am just looking for some advice on how to get through this. Any advice?

Call him up. I reckon that is the lowest way to break up with someone, especially when they’ve been ENGAGED for more than 1 year!!!!!
What a sore looooooooser!!!
Get serious about it, call him up, and tell him to look into your eyes and say he doesnt love you. What a chicken!

I have two friend that like me so i wrote their names down on a piece of paper and i had to draw which name came out first and it was first boyfriend i know from school. Im trying to write a letter but im stuck with the begin part of it. could you help me with this thank
